This site is devoted to my personal experiences with keeping and breeding mousebirds. If you do an internet search you will find a lot of info about mousebirds, most of which is in their homeland of Africa.

There are several keeper and breeders of mousebirds in the US. You can go to the links page for more information.  If you need information or have a question I've added a FORUM to the menu bar.  Stop by and introduce yourself and tell us about your mousebirds.

Each mousebird keeper does thing just a little different so it is best to try and research and read all available info and try to tailor your mousebirds needs to your situation and location.

Below are two books I would highly recommend you try to get if you have an interest to learn more.

Mousebirds In Aviculture: Psst!…I you order a book from Kateri, ask her to autograph it for you J

Kiki The Mousebird is a charming story of a foundling mousebird found and nurtured by Lyn. It’s a beautiful story. The book is out of print but can be found by doing a search on: http://www.alibris.com/
                                                    Picture
Up until 2007 I had never heard of mousebirds. March 2005 I wound up in the hospital with a collapsed lung due to breathing in birds dander from my cockatiels. Prior to this I had been successfully breeding cockatiels for a number of years: http://justcockatiels.weebly.com/  I was told that I would have to get rid of the cockatiels. I did sell quite a few, but just could not part with my favorites and a couple of families that I had spent years working on. Since I live in south Florida the weather is good all year round, I moved all the cockatiels outside and they are doing great.

In the interim I did an internet search for species of birds that had crests, long tails, and did not produce dander, and Google brought up links and images about mousebirds. Once I read and saw the photos I had to find someone that had them available. This site is devoted to my love and experiences with my flock of mousebirds.
